What must one do to get permission to watch this? I'd love to watch it. :)

Interesting... but that's reaching a bit far in regards to the average movie-goer who like I did, took the plot at face value. What's the point of making a movie with two interpretations, one in which the audience would really have to go the extra mile (watch it many times and do serious brainstorming) to understand? However, the "face value" interpretation was so dumb that I am totally going with this one. :)

So to summarize your theory, it's an Island wide conspiracy to brainwash this Federal Marshal into thinking he killed his wife who had just killed his kids, in order to cover up mind control experiments with Nazi undertones? That could have been the plot, but that's a far-fetched, goofy plot. The alternative is an Island wide role play to fix this patient by faking an Island wide conspiracy of mind control experiments with Nazi undertones. Pretty goofy as well, no? Since either possibility is pretty out there, Shutter Island is just a dumb screwball b movie with some style.

Great job. I agree with you completely save for the final scene where Leo seals his fate- I think they just convinced him his wife killed their children and he murdered her, the brainwashing worked and he couldn't live with what he now believed he had done. Anyways I'll be sharing this with my fellow Shutter Island fans. Thanks!

Excellent job. It's about time someone gives a bit of credit to Scorsese's latest masterpiece.
