Very good short. I agree that the score highly detracts from the beautiful performances. I think either a subtle piano score or just an ambient soundscape would have been more appropriate. Beautiful photography, especially in the car.

Fascinating that they each have their own conception of the other person plus them; the "us".

Thank you so much- yes- the constructive feedback is the only way we acknowledge the roots from different perspectives. Thank you for your detailed response.

Joriah, First, I commend you for seeking constructive feedback; it says a lot about your integrity as a filmmaker. Second, I personally have a very, very unpopular opinion regarding music in film. I'm simply not a big fan of it in most case, BUT NOT ALL. For conventional cinema that basically relies on devices to make it work, music is almost a must. I mean, what's the climactic rain scene in SHAWSHANK without the Thomas Newman score, right? However, IMHO, your film is unique. It's not conventional. It's about two people and their words and their inner feelings and their paradox. It's not about me as a viewer and a desired emotional place I must go to. So for me, the music distracts. It counters the simplicity and poignancy of the performances and your fantastic visuals. It is out-of-place and undermines the really great stuff you got going. BTW, I was not familiar with the music from anything else. However, the style of music, as you say, has become quite kitschy now and is used in all kinds of Indie movies and commercials. ***Random question: why can't we subscribe to these posts? That would be great, though maybe tough to set-up....
