Synopsis

THE SECOND BEND IN THE DOCUMENTATION SESSIONS.
Tyler Bowen. Priest Rapids. Wednesday March 31, 2010.

Tyler Bowen received a letter from his mother; it has been two years since they have spoken to each other. We decided it would be best to axis the second bend around this mysterious letter by which neither of us knew the contents, aside from the scribbled “FRAGILE PICTURES” etched at the bottom of the envelope.

This is all unscripted- even the spot that we had hoped would be the center ground for the bend ended up being a lake. The rest of the day was left to the wayward winds, and we were more than willing to drift alongside it.

About THE BENDS OF FORMATION:
This is about community- this is about truth. This is about facing ourselves in order to dismantle ego. In other words, this is the act of channeling mind to extreme levels, similar to the teachings of the Tibetan Book of the Dead, but without the assistance of psychedelics. The Bends of Formation is also about the art of dying; the art of killing ego by means of reassembling spirit. It is about the power within ourselves; the claiming of new perspective by way of self-realization. This is the journey of the human spirit. We are conceived for the gathering of a perfect world. This perfect world is not landscaped to perfection, it does not resemble the Plastic Icon; it is pure because it is accepting of itself, it is perfect because it no longer seeks artificial repair.

We invade digitally because the traveler is not alone. Let us bend for new perspective. Let us bend to remove all masks. Let us bend in order to live infinitely.

The person on screen- but also off as well- really all who are willing to look at themselves in the mirror (any form of expression can be considered an applicable Bend- it is music, visual art, painting, writing, dancing- if it is true to the individual then they are already in the line of formation)- the on screen individual is no different from anyone else. This is about more than film.
