May I humbly suggest a couple of my favourites since 2000? Christopher Nolan's Memento and Inarritu's Amores Perros were great movies to start the decade on, and more recently Let The Right One In has reinvigorated the vampire movie, and I would consider it one of the best films released in the UK this year.
