Dear Friends, How many films we see is not as important as how well we look at them. But keep up the good work!

Very true Bob, but I assume you there is some sort of method, preparation or significance I put into selecting these films.

Why only three stars for "The Descendants?"

Believe me I wanted to bump it up to four. There were so many great scenes and outstanding performances but ultimately what ruined it for me were the comedic attempts to push over specific scenes that were intended to be much more somber and would have been more affecting if they had been played as such. At least to me anyway.

Fair enough. I thought the comedy worked pretty well. I can see a lot of movies that we disagree on (also, why so low for "The Help?") But you make it up for it with a plenty of good ratings, "Paradise Lost 3" and "Take Shelter" to name a few. Also, "Bio-Dome" a 1/5? Thanks for hating on my guilty pleasure ;).

I have an extreme disliking of films that are made to manipulate the emotions of the viewer to get a targeted reaction from them. The Help is a prime example and I would also include Black Swan. The latest Paradise Lost is probably the most effective and illustrates what time can do to a person. Take Shelter is outstanding because it was dealt with in a very original way and the the story was compelling enough for me to actually pay attention. I'm not really attracted to very many newer films unless there's something about it that's making me want to see it, and that was Michael Shannon. And don't get me wrong, I've probably seen Bio Dome more than anyone on the planet. I love Pauly Shore and I really can't get enough. But I do prefer others of his particularly Encino Man and Son In Law. I rated them low because they aren't, you know, good, but I enjoy them so much because they are what they are.

While I disagree with you on "The Help," I found the emotions to have came natural and the film wasn't manipulative at all, I respect your opinion. Your view on "Bio-Dome" precisely mimics mine, by the way. Just for that, and your intelligent commentary, you deserve a follow.

I can always find something good out of a bad movie, but that still may not make it any better. I generally do it just to know what the hell people I know are talking about. Not of my friends watch terrible movies and I can't tell them otherwise until I watch them.
