Terrific list. A Simple Plan and L.A. Confidential are my personal favorites, and I, too, have doubts about Fight Club. John Dahl merits inclusion on this list. His Red Rock West and The Last Seduction are great examples of the genre. Linda Fiorentino in the latter is the perfect embodiment of the noir villainess.
Sweet list concept. The Long Goodbye is the most effective one on the list. It's completely a 70's piece and completely Philip Marlowe, with a cat. You are seriously missing The Big Lebowski and Miller's Crossing. Fight Club... really?
Good list. Whenever I see a list like this, it reminds me of all the movies I've been meaning to watch but never gotten around to them.
