A Cinephile's Resolution to Re-watch and Reassess Certain Films

By: scorpiorising

This 2011, I have decided to give certain films I might have possibly underrated and unfairly criticized a second chance, a re-watch. Last year, I re-watched Edvard Munch and Jubilee, and both second watches proved to be revelations.

One must realize that one usually is not in the right good or condition when watching a film, and this usually leads to one underrating or overrating it, most likely the former. And one’s sensibilities are ever-changing, and I’d like to think that this also applies to myself.

Perhaps, there are other films I might have thought of and criticized more harshly than deserved but, for now, these are the films that I look forward to seeing again. I know these might be a lot of titles so I plan to do at least one for each week.

Is there a free place for 'L'Avventura' in your list? That would be nice.

Great idea. I also try to do that from time to time, with films I didn't really enjoy the first time I saw them. And you are 100% right: how and when you see a film - it totally influences your experience of it.
