American dream my ass : Jim Jarmusch ranked
By: Eloi MV
My favorite director, hands down. I discover him pretty much at the same time that I discover cinema, and Ghost Dog is still my favorite movie of all time. It made me watch movies like Le Samourai, Seijen Suzuki Stuff and a lot of other movies that influenced Ghost Dog.
Stranger than Paradise is also a personnal favorite, that I didn’t enjoy at all the first time I saw it (it was the last Jarmusch I saw) because I think I hadn’t seen enough slow paced stuff. When I made a second Jarmusch marathon, I was blown away by it’s style.
Dead Man, Down by Law and Mystery Train are just amazing movies. Some directors would be proud to have just one of them in their filmography.
Coffee and Cigarettes and Broken Flowers are really great and easy rewatch.
I need to rewatch Limits of Control and Night on Earth.
And Permanent Vacation is interesting, mainly to see Jarmush’s first work while his Ten Minutes Older segment is not bad, but forgettable.
But the most important, Jarmush is just so cool!
