A film per country. I see the idea is catching on with 3 similar lists in one day, and numerous others since (I believe this to be the prototype- accept no imposters!) ARRANGED BY COUNTRY ALPHABETICALLY. The different parts of Great Britain, Tibet, Palestine and former Soviet republics to count separately. A few countries represented by non-national directors. In some cases i’ve gone for lesser known favourites to promote ahead of more famous masterpieces i also like, e.g for India and Italy

Thanks for the suggestion- i doubt very much my Portuguese would be up to understanding creole, but i'd like to see it.

I have a suggestion: Udju Azul di Yonta from Flora Gomes (Guine Bissau). I saw it many years ago and loved it. If your portuguese is fluent you will love to catch many of the words they use in criolo. I have been trying to find it for a while but unsuccessfully so far. If you manage to do it let me know.
