Best GENRE FILMS of the Aughts
By: Keaton Kail
Attempting to stick to straight SF/Horror entries, though genre trope-heavy works of those like Haneke, Cronenberg, Noe, etc. tempt me dearly.
Sad that the Auteurs does not have entries for Spielberg’s bright-eyed, hopey MINORITY REPORT, or Romero’s latest, obsessed DEAD iterations. I’ll continue in this catchy two-adjective style:
Constantine – surpising, assured
Haute Tension – reckless, severe to the point of obliviousness
The Hulk (Ang Lee) – mad.
The Others – unpretentious, consistent
Spiderman 2 – subversive, schlock-infused
X2: X-Men United – subversive, gay
