Best LGBT films of all time

By: Lemmycaution

You’ll say that the title is a little extravagant but that was the point. In fact, my idea was to make a list with good films. Some LGBT films have no interest except the one of talking of LGBT people but some LGBT films are little treasures, here they are

Amos Guttman's films belong on here. I had never heard of him a month ago. While I was looking for a subject to write an essay on, I stumbled across this unknown name (Seriously, search for it, other than a sparse imdb page, there is practically nothing). His name often came up as the first creator of queer cinema in Israel. He has a strange style that is equal parts Sirk and Jarman. I would strongly recommend his films. He made 3 shorts and 4 features, but I have personally only seen three of his features and they were all amazing.

Thanx for helping me with this list. I would really like to watch his films. I'm now making a more complete list of lgbt films and will soon release it on mubi :))

This is more a list of LGBTQ films in general, because there are easily a couple tens of films on this list that are notably awful: Total Eclipse, But I'm a Cheerleader, and La belle personne. But it is awesome to see so many LGBTQ films I've never heard of, so thank you for the interesting list.

That's funny, La belle personne is about the only film on this list I would say I really like.

In fact, it's really difficult to select films. I would have to watch all of them, which is totally impossible as I live now in Morrocco where most of these films are unavailable. I will soon create a really exhaustive list of lgbt films but I still have to work on it... I also really enjoyed La belle personne but I wouldn't say it's the only film on the list that I really like as there's many more, for example Cocteau's "Orpheus" and Pasolini's "Canterbury Tales" are on the list and they are now classics.
