BEST OF 2010
By: Steve Norwood
Listed below are the films that best represent the most engaging, challenging, artful, technically sound, beautiful and mesmerizing (for better or worse – I’m not saying they all made me feel good inside) of 2010 that I had access to either through U.S. distribution, international DVD and/or festivals. Some of them are all of these things; some are only one. But strong enough individually for whatever reason to be put here.
So you know where I’m coming from, I’m the guy whose 2009 list stretched from REVANCHE to CRANK 2. Enjoy.
(Note: due to some minor surgery I missed a number of December releases including SOMEWHERE, THE KING’S SPEECH, BLACK SWAN, TRUE GRIT, THE FIGHTER and RABBIT HOLE. If, in fact, these end up being the best films of 2010, I will be surprised and chagrined.)
