Cronenberg

By: Louis

I have seen all of Cronenberg’s films and he is one of my all time favourite autuers.

The man does not get enough credit as an artist, hence the name of this list. His films have the unique ability of making his audience uneasy, I know many films have this quality but when you watch a Cronenberg you feel physically affected. Cronenberg’s films do not follow a trend and are not merely concerned with body horror (which I feel is too often under appreciated and put down as gore) they deal with technology, existensialism, the conflict of science and man and so on. The list could go on of course.

Cronenberg usually worked with the same members in his crew who helped to contribute to a spectacular career. Notably composer Howard Shore, director of photography Peter Suschitzky and Art Director Carol Spier.

No. 16 is Crimes of the Future

1-5 10/10
6-11 9/10
12-14 8/10
15-18 7/10

Oh yes I do Joshua. Rabid was disappointing to me. It was a step back from Shivers and was notable only for Marilyn Chambers performance. Scanners was also disappointing, there is some very mediocre acting in that film. The Fly was somewhat of a Hollywood departure which I didn't agree with and Stereo is too raw. Fast Company is the ultimate b-movie, it's an uncomplicated film that makes me smile and I enjoyed it more than all the other mentioned films.
