lots of good stuff here, seen a few of these but great idea to go through them like this. the amount you've seen is really impressive. only one query - isn't the The Kite Runner an American film? it is about Afghanistan, sure, but its pretty Hollywood. Did a little bit of research and found there have been some feature films made since the Taliban were overthrown, Zolykha's Secret for example. I might have a watch.

Thanks for your comment. I agree with you. However, a Moroccan-American girl I met insisted that I should add The Kite Runner. I decided, okay, I would add it, although I had never thought about it. It is more about the locale and the story than where the funding comes from. If I saw a movie with Isabelle Huppert that was based on a Moliere play, but was funded by the Egyptian government, I guess I would still consider it French.

good point. it depends what you intended by the list. if you wanted to learn about these countries and their cultures then a film made by an outsider might do as good a job and offer more. besides it's your list so you can do what you like! its a great film, i loved it. i lent it to a friend about an hour ago.

What a fascinating project! (Clap clap) I suggest you regard Taiwan & China as different countries. There are lots of fascinating films from both. One of my favorites from China is "Mongolian Ping Pong." (I'm a little confused about Mongolia's relationship to China.) Anyway, here are a few more countries: 1. Kyrgyzstan - Beshkempir / The adopted son.... 2. Kazakhstan - Tulpan.... 3. Bhutan - Milarepa: Magician, Murderer, Saint; The cup.... 4. Jordan - Captain Abu Raed.... 5. Rwanda - Munyurangabo... 6. Chad - Daratt / Dry season.... 7. Pakistan - Khuda Kay Liye (In the Name of God).... 8. Iceland - 101 Rejkavik; Noi the Albino; Children of Nature....
