“The darker the night, the brighter the stars,
The deeper the grief, the closer is God!”

In addition to L'amour braque, Zulawski's La femme publique (The Public Woman) is partially an adaptation of D.'s *The Devils* (much of the film is concerned with the cast shooting a film adaptation of the book).

Most of this films has nothing with Dostoevsky (accept adaptations). Fists in the pocket, Adagio, Ballad of a soldier...? Nope.

Many titles were recommended by other users....I have not even see all these films myself. If you are unhappy with the list, I recommend to make your own....this list here isn't a serious inquiry, just a gathering of films for talking points, discussions and recommendations. Thanks.

I realized that those are recommendations from other users, I just say that I don't agree with choice (it is part of discussion, isn't it?).

Only connnection of most of these films with Dostoevsky is that they're filmed in Russia. So, you can put 3,098,297 more movies on this list (rumour is that Russians filmed more than 10 films, believe it or not).

Feel free to recommend what films to remove and what to put on....that would be a lot more helpful than just complaining about the list...thanks...

I believe the following titles shouldn't be there: Andrei Rublev (Russia and orthodoxy are only connections, and by that criterion, like I said, you can put here every russian film); Stalker (belief is only, but weak connection); Island (same as Rublev); Clockwork Orange (what the...?); Ivan's Childhood (???); Solaris (it seems like you put there complete Tarkovsky filmography, without any other criteria); Ballad of a Soldier (again, Russia is the only connection); The Machinist (????????); Fists in the Pocket (I saw this is connected with Dostoevsky on many lists, and only reason is the epilepsy of a main character - that's realy shallow point of view); Come and See (typical antiwar film, what it has to do with F. M. D.?)... To make this shorter: not all Kurosawa's, Tarkovsky's, Allen's and Bresson's movies could be connected with Dostoevsky. Or, if they could, then we could connect every other movie that contain or is dealing with murders, epilepsy, Russia, orthodoxy or/and mysticism. That would be some list! :)

Thanks guys....I will update the list when I get time. Clockwork and lots of others was recommended by someone....I suppose it is just about the murder and society thing but yeah its not explicitly related.....still I think Red Beard is Dostoyeksyian...that was my choice...
