I'm taking a Rohmer class in August. We'll be viewing and discussing Four Adventures of Reinette and Mirabelle, A Tale of Springtime, A Tale of Winter, A Summer's Tale, Autumn Tale and Rendezvous in Paris.
Kenji, oh definitely. Nothing is a given. However, I still have to see Silent Light. Will do ASAP!
I Love your list, although I'm a big moral tales fan and would have ranked My Night at Maud's and Claire's Knee higher.
Petrocephalon, you have a point I'm sure. For Eric Rohmer's films in particular, it seems that it was love at first sight and everyone pretty much loves the first Rohmer they saw (if they are a fan). I'm sure it would be fun if you develop your idea further. There may be something to it! :) Yes, The Good Marriage was very entertaining. It's definitely one of my favorites and it does not matter to me if it's highly unpopular. I can easily see why someone would hate it, but I adore it (maybe for that particular reason).
:) Thank you Sharuna for your comments. I have seen most of his major films, but of course, he did a lot of shorts I'm finding about now. I hope you enjoy the rewatch.
by the way, the Gene Hackman line to me is wonderful, because it is a double edged sword. It portraits perfectly the character, who's not comfortable with his own emotions, and it can also turn into a wonderful compliment from one director to another. I really love watching paint dry. bye
what a sweet sweet list you've done! mine would be obviously different, but who cares. I was telling myself: "death will not have this power on my. I'm not going to watch his movie again just because he's dead. I'll come back to them as I've always done anyway". But now I absolutely have to watch again L'amour l'apres midi. A flower to your sweetness.
