Originally I discovered Ernst Lubitsch through Billy Wilder, who was obsessed with Ernst Lubitsch.

Very surprised to see The Love Parade so low. Its exploration of gender roles is arguably even more socially relevant now than it was then.

Lubitsch is the man. Cluny Brown is sadly neglected. Design for Living also deserves a lot more credit that it usually gets. Lubitsch was not as frivolous as Noel Coward.

Alli, you really are a one-off with your unexpected ranking orders; To Be or Not to Be, Trouble in Paradise are widely considered his best (and The Love Parade a goodie too)! Well, it says a lot for Lubitsch that there are so many you rate higher, and i look forward to Cluny Brown- i like Jennifer Jones too.
