That is weird. I have always thought that our decadence began when Italian directors switched to colour, in the mid-1960s...

La Commare Secca is a pretty great film. I do hate Dario Argento and The Passenger, but other than that every film on here that I've seen (many by Fellini, Olmi, Pasolini and Antonioni's other films) are great. I need to work my way through the famous spaghetti westerns again. I'm also very pleased to see that Dillinger is Dead made it.
don't you like Bertolucci's debut ''La Commare Secca'' and Scola's ''Brutti sporchi e cattivi''? :)
You can add 2008: Pranzo di Ferragosto, Un'altro pianeta 2009: La bocca del lupo, La pivellina (Non è ancora domani), 2010: Noi credevamo, 1960 (Salvatores),
Great list - many of my favourites here. I'll do some thinking about more recent stuff - I might have included Io Non Ho Paura, although the book is better.
Sooner or later, one of my next lists about countries / regions will possibly be Italy, so maybe we can exchange views there since I have plenty of contemporary titles for your viewing queue. Italy, Turkey and the whole Balkan yard have always been the closest to me in terms of research, so I'll let you know, hehe.
Not a perfect Italian guide (maybe I'll make one, haha) but I'll favorite it since it's quite alternative ;)
absolument! antonioni forever!!!!! la notte and l'avventura especially. but come on! Death in Venice should be in the list!
