Amos Vogel wrote the book in 1974. I did not want to just list the films in the book, more is this list my personal take on film as a subversive art in the spirit of Amos' vision.

Thanks for the list, I think it is still possible to work with this excellent book, and I would love to read more comments on it, from a contemporary perspective (or why not a revised edition?). It's huge influence is not to deny.

I found this book in a used books store in Ann Arbor 20 years ago, and I still go back to it time and again. I would fly to see a film festival based on this list.
