Films My Father Enjoys

When telling others about my interests, he always mentions that I like “critically acclaimed movies.”
He once described 2001: A Space Odyssey as “long-winded.”
My little sister was given an assignment in her theatre class where she had to do a report on one film off the old AFI 100 list. She was given a list of the hundred movies, and after telling my father about the project, my dad tried to guess what titles made the list. My dad’s not a cinephile, nor does he look at enough “GREATEST MOVIE EVER” lists to have a basic understanding of what makes your run-of-the-mill greatest list, so he just started listing every old movie he could think of. My favorite guess: Fletch. Runner up: old movies I’m guessing he saw on television in the early eighties. Seriously, fuck’s The Robe?
He refers to Werner Herzog as “that German guy.”
