NOTE: I tried streaming THE BOY WITH GREEN HAIR and THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM but both were unwatchable due to their horrible image quality. (In other words, there are probably other films on this list that are UNWATCHABLE due to their horrible presentation.)

Netflix got rid of their list option so I’m moving some of my lists here.

This ongoing list of streaming Netflix titles will include: upcoming DVD releases not yet available, films with previous DVD releases that are now out of print, films not available on (region 1) DVD at all, and films out on DVD that, for whatever reasons, Netflix doesn’t carry.

NOT LISTED:

Weekend (Andrew Haigh, 2011)
A Model for Matisse (Barbara F. Freed, 2005)
Strand: Under the Dark Cloth (John Walker, 1989) “Two types of art — photography and film — converge in this documentary that provides a fascinating picture of the life of famed photographer Paul Strand.”
The Big Fix (Jeremy Kagan, 1978)
The Whale Warrior: Pirate for the Sea (Ronald Colby, 2008)
Phaedra (Jules Dassin, 1962)
The Delinquents (Robert Altman, 1957)
Private Practices: The Story of a Sex Surrogate (Kirby Dick, 1985)
Born to Win (Ivan Passer, 1971)
The Lawless (Joseph Losey, 1950)
Revolution (Jack O’Connell, 1968). “The hippie spirit of Haight-Ashbury is alive and well in this rough-around-the-edges documentary, shot in the heart of San Francisco during the groovy days when hair was long, love was free and acid abounded. Featuring concert footage of Country Joe and the Fish and other bands, director Jack O’Connell’s quirky film captures the counterculture’s scope, from impassioned leaders such as Rev. Cecil Williams down to ordinary freaks on the street.”
Burke & Wills (1985). Director Graeme Clifford re-creates the tragic 1860 expedition of explorers Robert Burke (Jack Thompson) and William Wills (Nigel Havers) in their attempt to be the first men to trek across the Australian interior.
Fire With Fire (Captive Hearts) (Duncan Gibbins, 1986). “Love breaks all boundaries in this breathless romantic drama from director Duncan Gibbons, in which a defiant girl (Virginia Madsen) from a strict Catholic school falls for a troubled lad (Craig Sheffer) held at a nearby woodland juvenile detention center. The couple indulge their hormones during secret forest rendezvous, but soon authorities from church and state close in…”

NOTE: It would be too time consuming for me to constantly check whether or not the films I’ve listed are all still available on streaming, so if you come across any that aren’t, feel free to let me know. Thanks.

My Winnipeg is available on R1 DVD, just not in the US. It's fairly common in Canada.

Thanks for the info, Joshua. For some reason Netflix still doesn't carry MY WINNIPEG on DVD, but they have it available for streaming. For that reason I'm going to keep it on the list.

Thanks Ruby! THE OFFENCE (1972) has been removed. I also removed CARLOS (2010) since it's now available to rent on DVD.

Thanks for the info regarding SURVIVING DESIRE! I'm keeping it on the list, however, because I've strayed a little bit outside of just films that aren't available on region 1 DVD. The list also includes films that Netflix doesn't rent on DVD at all (for people with Netflix who don't like to blind buy films, and also for people (like me) who prefer not to stream titles but will if they can't be rented/seen easily another way).
