    The title refers to "Ghost and Flesh", a William Goyen's book. To quote this Goodreads' user, Ron: "is a fabulous, in the true sense of the word, collection of stories. There are ghosts in all of them but not in a supernatural sense. These, in true Southern Gothic tradition, all deal with the burden of the past. Some are funny, some tragic, most are a mixture of both. Some of the stories are feverishly poetic, with little realism to anchor them.
