HANEKE, ranked.

By: Drew Gregory

I’ve been watching Haneke’s films in order. My goal is to see them all by the time I see The White Ribbon in theatres on the 30th. It looks like I will meet that goal! Here is my ranking of his films so far.

EDIT: I did it! I’m so excited for The White Ribbon!!!!

NOTE: Funny Games U.S. is not bad at all. The original is too good for this movie (which is almost exactly the same) to be bad. Still I rank it last because it is unnecessary for me. Maybe its important for the “stupid American” who won’t watch subtitled films, but for me the film is a waste. I will never watch it again, which is not true for any of Haneke’s other films. If the original didn’t exist I’m sure it would be much much higher, but that is a fictional situation that I cannot judge.

EDIT 2: The White Ribbon exceeded my high expectations. An absolute masterpiece!
