@Micmac: I guess, I have a problem with Kubrick. His films annoy me. Even those I'd admit are good, like Full Metal Jacket or Barry Lyndon, or even Clockwork Orange. But some just annoy me. I watched 2001 about 10 years ago and could not make anything of it. It looked like pretentious nonsense; but, hey, I am sure it is subjective - there was also the air conditioning which sucked all the air out of the cinema and replaced it with 12°C mix of wicked gases, so that you may say I have a psychological trauma.
Agreed with Sweeney Todd, Koktebel, Death Proof and The Butterfly Effect. But 2001?! It does take patience, but I couldn't have spent my 141 minutes any better.
