Jacques Rivette on DVD

By: Brian Davisson

This list is an attempt to keep track of the films of Jacques Rivette that are available to a non-French speaking audience. Obviously several of his films are not available at all, and several have been released with French audio but no subtitles. Please update in the comments if you see anything missing, incorrect, or incomplete on this list.

The release of the German edition of Out 1 seems to have been delayed until late 2012 (I think I saw October as the new release date). According to a post I saw on the Criterion forum (so with no clear idea how accurate this is), it looks like the German edition was delayed to ensure that it is released at the same time as editions in other countries. So, bad news on the delay, but very good news if it’s soon to appear elsewhere.

Nice list here. I think I have all but a few of these, and the completist in me won't rest until I've tracked down every last one of them! BTW, it's Opening who distribute the Noroît/Duelle set; it's a great double pack that, although sometimes listed as OOP, can still be had for very cheap at Amazon France.

There's a Czech DVD edition of La belle noiseuse (with Czech subtitles) going together with Histoire de Marie et Julien. The publisher was Zona, who did publish Tarkovskij's films as well and others...
