Forgetting Kwaidan is inexcusable! Thanks again for the suggestions. We're really starting to get somewhere.
What about Kwaidan? Especially the story of Hoichi the Earless has a lot of noh and Kabuki influence
I'd say the noh influence on Wuthering Heights is similar to that on Ran. It's mostly noticable through acting, staging and pace. Do you also happen to have Women in the Mirror? I watched loads of Yoshida in a retrospective that's currently going through Europe, but missed that one.
I've yet to see the late Yoshidas myself, and have copies of Wuthering Heights and The Human Promise waiting patiently. Thanks for the suggestions. Keep 'em coming.
Another Naruse I need to see.
An excellent addition, and one I wouldn't have thought of. Thanks Mark.
I know this is months after this list has been made, but Diary of a Shinjuku Thief has many parallels with kabuki theater, especially toward the end.
It counts. Any link, however tenuous, and it's on the list.
Page of Madness involves Noh masks, i don't know if that should count
well you've done a very good job, the first ones that came to mind are here, i'll have to think
