Minimalist Extremism + Transcendental Humanism

By: NE1

Through working to express that even the minutest moments are sacred;
With visual techniques which stress impressions of realism at all costs, life as it goes…
Emotions laid bare, in real time
These directors’ works are akin…

By taking cinematic minimalism to an utmost;
By providing characters & moments so human they transcend the experience of the film itself;
By giving us films with a genuine sense of synergy.

Extreme Minimalism,
Transcendent Humanity.

I'm not sure that I totally understand the point of this list, but I feel like Wang Bing's films deserve to be here. They're certainly minimalistic, extreme, transcendental, humanistic . . .

May I suggest the works of Julian Hernandez? I feel he's definitely a minimalist.

Great list, but this desperately needs some Tsai Ming-Liang.
