Great list, but this desperately needs some Tsai Ming-Liang.
One of the three Scenes entry is broken (and I question whether if even two are needed).
This has to be the greatest list on mubi. What happened to the stills?
Cool list, but sorely missing Michelangelo Antonioni and Monte Hellman.
Great List! I want to watch all of them.
Would Rivette's La Belle Noiseuse and his two Jeanne la pucelle films fit into this?
nice list! includes some films I've been meaning to watch, and now have more reason to.

A list chock-full of beautiful films, but the video at the top doesn't work. I would have loved to have seen what it was, try to find another link!
I recommend Malick's The New World
I recommended Tsai Ming Liang‘s films for this list :p
i just saw Climates - the long-takes of the facial expressions of the actors wowww either you can tell exactly what they're thinking or its up to the audience to decide, either way i love it. and evocative camerawork - id love to see Climates on this list :)
You should look at Chantal Akerman's "Je Tu Il Elle" and Miloš Forman's "Černý Petr." Both films pay close attention to individual movement and stasis, but differ substantially in tone; Akerman leans toward the melancholy, while Forman errs on the side of dark humor.
I wholeheartedly agree. The art-houses should be abrasive & innovative, not just contemplative & ambiguous.
I don't wholeheartedly approve of the general trend for austerity, restraint and minimalism in "arthouse" cinema, but fine list
Fantastic list. In regards to Ozu, Late Spring would fit perfectly into this grouping. I haven't seen much by Ozu, so he may have better or more qualified movies, but Late Spring is one of my favorites.
Feel free to PM me with additions to the list. For instance: i have not seen any Ozu, yet from what i've heard his work would fall under these categories.
This list will continue to grow as i find more films that share this feel.
