Music by Alex North
By: Oliver
The following list features some highlights from the work of Alex North, one of the most important composers in the history of film, who introduced Hollywood to the sound of Jazz (with A Streetcar Named Desire). During his long career he wrote music for pictures ranging from gargantuan productions like Spartacus or Cleopatra to small scale adult dramas, often based on popular broadway plays. And he brought even William Castle an Academy Award nomination: In 1974 his music for Castle´s final film Shanks (with Marcel Marceau in the title role!) was nominated for an Oscar.
