My favorite 20 new films that I saw in 2010
By: KarstenM
After much reflection, I’ve decided to rank these twenty films in this order of preference. These are new films that I saw in 2010 (a few might’ve originated from earlier years but only this year become available through general release in Northern Europe, some have I seen at festivals and might only become available in 2011 or later).
The top 20 are all great films that I would heartily recommend and that I’ll watch repeatedly in the years to come.
The top 10 are films that I love both emotionally and intellectually with enormous respect and admiration.
Number 5, The Social Network represents a sort of emotional/intellectual perfection.
The top 4 films are to me representatives of the kind of cinema I enjoy the most; they’re both immediately satisfying on an emotional, intellectual and artistical level – yet they’re all puzzles to me… films which contain visual and thematic riddles. Films I’ll live with and hopefully never understand fully.
In each their own way: A poem.
