Yooo so happy to be in this list! If someone is curious to check out my film - nr. 296 - coming from as far Lithuania, please do! http://mubi.com/films/porno-melodrama
You clearly know your gay cinema. Any chance you could possibly recommend me any Russian gay/ lesbian films or possibly any Russian musicals if you know of any. It would be a big help and you definitely look like the right person to ask.
Wow your New Queer Cinema list is fantastic. Really, amazing - wish I had a gay film to recommend but they're all already on the list. I was wondering if you could recommend me any depressing films (macabre i know) since your cinema knowledge is so impressive. Something around the Lilya 4-ever, Control, Grave of the Fireflies ballpark. Odd request, I know but I can't find a fitting list on this site. Thank you in advance if you do manage to think of anything
↓ Actually that would cry out for a new list, something like "Lesbianism in vampire stories & films". Any takers? ;)
Many thanks for your suggestion! I admit I haven't seen any of Lucrecia Martel's films yet, I was just going by the plot descriptions...
Great List! But I think that Martel's "La Niña Santa" should be on the list, instead of "La Ciénaga".-
I don't know. Should _Gerry_ be on the list? It's been years since I saw it but it didn't strike me as a queer film per se (same goes with _Old Joy_ btw). But I am open to conviction :)
Thanks Chris&di-lap-i-date! Good call on Strella. Now that's the second (third?) time I've heard someone mention it. Looks like a good film :)
What Chris said. I recently read about a Greek film that would suit the collection called "A Woman's Way" (Strella). Part of HBT section on our local film festival. It's not on The Auteurs, and I haven't seen it personally, but if you're interested check it out on imdb.
