PANIC AT THE KINDERGARTEN
By: ELENA
“Thirty seconds after you’re born you have a past and sixty seconds after that you begin to lie to yourself about it.”
Juliana Kelly The Brood (1979) Dir. by David Cronenberg.
This list features dark natured, strange, evil, disturbed, possesed, spooky, monsterous and violent children that have starred films along history in the movies. The discussion about how evil flourishes in children is opened. Is it on nature or nurture? Can the supernatural or metaphysical satanic forces be blamed for it?
Children are curious, immoral, untrained and lack empathy so in their early stages they can have destructive nature, be selfish, aggressive, sadistic, manipulative… This list was originally inspired by David Cronenberg’s The Brood (1979). This film doesn’t only use evil children as a claim but it actually goes to the source of the evil nature of infants by suggesting they are born out of their mother’s rage. But many other seeds can blossom evil in children as suggested on the following movies.
The list has just started and is on-growing. It’s meant to feature not only the most disturbed children starring horror films but any children with dark nature and strange behaviour. Any contributions will be more than welcome.
