Personal Favourites (NOT a "Best of" list)

If I had to describe myself through the use of cinema, the films I’d use to convey that would look something like this list. For me, these are the only films I would require on a desert island (one in which electricity was available of course), the films that I continuously (some might say to the point of exhaustion – for both parties) recommend, and films that I will never tire of. Some of them are widely accepted in “cinephile” circles, others not so much. Many of these are flawed either technically or possibly narratively, but they are, for me, masterpieces and a masterpiece must reflect a bit of humanity and imperfection is an essential part of that. They are not listed according to “quality”, but just as they came to mind … so, no order. They’re all equally masterful.
