I love this list, I completely get what you mean. A few suggestions in case you're interested: 3 Women, Bonnie and Clyde, Red Desert, Never Let Me Go, Marie Antoinette, Pride & Prejudice (2005), A Swedish Love Story, Meek's Cutoff, Hanna, Happiness (Le bonheur), The Spirit of the Beehive, Grey Gardens, Badlands, Heavenly Creatures, Juliet of the Spirits, Days of Heaven, Marketa Lazarová, Into the Wild, Vagabond, Donkey Skin. Not sure if all of these fit but thought I'd weigh in!

I endorse this comment BUT: i think too much film in a raw will drive her crazy (or more crazy :p). Maybe she can avoid Never let me Go, a crappy empty movie. And I 'm not sure the masterpiece Marketa Lazarova could fit with this list (but see it anyway!)

I find the theme behind this list (and the flickr group) very hard to explain in words somehow - which is the reason why I created a corresponding flickr-group in the first place, to draw a more precise picture of what I mean. Female onisirism describes it in part, indeed - but for me those films are even more about ... ahhh, how shall I put this - characters who find themselves in trouble or pain and who seek a certain escapism . Those characters don't necessarily have to present as female (there are a few pictures of people who present as male in the flickr group pool), but have a certain "prettiness" to them, which ties in with the second thing I'm interested in: That contrast between a seemingly pristine, doll-like appearance and deeply troubled inner life. Rosemary's Baby very much represents that second idea for me. La Belle Person reflects both ideas, Ugh, like I said, I'm terrible at explaining this - but I hope I could make it a tiny bit more clear!

Yep, and that's the flickr group that made me think Rosemary's Baby and others seemed not to fit. But I get your point ok. It's subtle indeed. I'm not sure the films I had in head to advise you can fit then. Like the David Hamilton ones (Bilitis or Tendres cousines, or Un été à Saint Tropez), or Is-Slottlet/The Ice Palace, a film that i love (a 80's nowergian coming-of-age full of mystery. with a strong cold atmosphere), or others!

I've seen and loved almost all these movies, and i can see some coherence, a certain feminine onirism. But there is some weird exception like Rosemary's baby, Belle de Jour or La Belle Personne. So i don't get. Is this just the list of your fav movies (which have lots in common) or is there some special theme i don't quite get as a motive for this list? Great list anyway <3
