RAY DURGNAT'S FAVOURITE FILMS

By: Kenji

As provided by the late great British critic for Sight and Sound (1992, 1982) and John Kobal’s (1987) polls, also an earlier selection from 1969.

Not on this site:

Next of Kin (Dickinson)

Durgnat’s book Films and Feelings was chosen by Jonathan Rosenbaum as one of his 5 favourite film books in the latest Sight and Sound. Also chosen in the poll was Durgnat on Film. In addition, i would recommend 2 books i’ve read by him- Jean Renoir, and W.R.Mysteries of the Organism (BFI Classics series).

Just found out about Raymond Durgnat from one of Adrian Martin's recent Tweets on Twitter. Didn't know who he was till now *self-flaggelates* His posthumously published book 'A Long Hard Look at 'Psycho'' was mentioned - think I'll see if I can pick up a copy soon. Thanks for this, Kenji :)

Thanks for all that, Henry- there have been quite a few films called Next of Kin, so that's helpful
