    I first saw that at the cinema in France, as a student, with an older woman i'd taken a liking to- but couldn't stand it!

    Heh, the first time I "saw" it was when I was in junior high school and a girl I was extremely taken with described the entire movie to me over the phone. I can't deny that I have some fondness for the movie for that reason alone. Maybe Tadao was fond of a girl who liked it too...
