I've added a scene from Forty Guns where the effect is greater for the lack of cutting
I was gonna make a page just like this. Great page by the way. That LAST CHAPTER OF SNOW was incredible, I have to see it.
Thanks for the suggestions, i'm just picking some not all examples for certain directors like Tarr (nor seen his Macbeth), Tarkovsky. I wasn't so keen on India Song or Duel but the long take in the latter sounds of interest (not seen for ages). Children of Men, like Y Tu Mama Tambien certainly had impressive long take
I certainly would add Bela Tarr's 1982 television adaptation of MACBETH. Except for the first five minutes before the credits, it is one long shot of about one hour with the camera moving through the castle. Other memorable long take movies: INDIA SONG (Marguerite Duras, 1975), the candle scene in Tarkovsky's NOSTALGHIA (1983), GOODFELLAS (Scorsese, 1990), CHILDREN OF MEN (Alfonso Cuarón, 2006). Also an interesting long take in Spielberg's DUEL (1971), when Dennis Weaver enters the bar. He uses it to intensify the dramatic impact of the last image of that take.
Let's not forget one of the most important movies in the line, Soy Cuba - Mikhail Kalatozov (1964). Is still studied at the most important film schools across Europe, and Kalatozov is named "master of the long takes" as far as I know. Regards!
I did too actually but man...talk about long shots.... The first take I think cuts at past the 10 minute mark.
