Spanish Documentary Filmmaking

By: Brian Davisson

This is a list of some Spanish documentaries (either made on Spanish topics or by Spanish directors filming elsewhere) that are visually or thematically interesting. This is as much about me increasing what I’ve seen as anything, so suggestions are welcome.

A shot from Luis Buñuel’s Las Hurdes: tierra sin pan, from 1932.

Arsaib, thanks for the suggestions. I added a link to Innisfree in the list, though it doesn't have a page yet. I considered Unas fotos en la ciudad de Sylvia, but I'm honestly not sure what I'd call it. For some reason that I can't articulate, it doesn't feel exactly like a documentary to me (though there's no absolute definition in any case). If the Jordà films get a page, I'll add them to the list as well.
