I’m well aware that there are plenty of lists about Iranian Cinema, but as it’s been one of my core film fascinations of the past year, I’ve decided to compile a list of the Iranian films I’ve seen. I hope to see this list grow over the months to come and, of course, my objective is to see them all, though it is not likely I will achieve that feat for some time.

So, please bear with me while I attempt to get this list up and running, organized, and full of all the great pieces of Iranian cinema I’ve seen.

Also, I’m aware that some of these films aren’t “technically” Iranian, like Persepolis, but if you’ve seen it, you understand why it’s on here.

Well I thought these are generally films that take place in Iran or depict the Iranian life. in that case, you're right sir :).

RE: Osama Mohsen Makhmalbaf is listed as an Executive Producer, Iran is listed as a country on MUBI and IMDb, and the Trivia for the film on IMDb reads, "Director Siddiq Barmak was helped in the making of his film by leading Iranian director Mohsen Makhmalbaf who gave him $100,000 funding and the 35mm cameras and equipment he needed. Makhmalbaf also persuaded his regular cinematographer Ebrahim Ghafori to work on the project." I love the Makhmalbaf's and will probably consider anything they have to do with for this list. I look forward to seeing your list.
