Being a hopelessly uncool old fogey from a land of sheep, i’m fascinated by this je ne sais quoi that effortlessly casts a halo round some while others are cast into darkness; a tyranny that dominates both popular and intellectual culture. I suspect the intellectual strain of Cool is of French ancestry. So i am setting out to identify the perfect 37. Alain Delon and Steve McQueen are of course prime contenders (is The Getaway cooler than Bullitt?) . This is a subject that deserves more study i think, given its influence on the world

Not all films on this list will be everyone’s idea of cool; but a list should have a few surprises. 37 is a cool prime number.

i've only seen Chungking Express and L'Eclisse on this list--and they're cool alright. I will try to get through this list based on the fact that those 2 are selected :). Good taste!
