The Auteurs Poll 2009

In early 2009, I conducted a poll with nearly 100 participants. Done in the style of the “Sight & Sound” poll, Auteurs members were asked to submit what they thought were the 10 greatest films.

Kind of funny how so many people on this will strongly disagree that Citizen Kane warrants being number one on so many critics polls and yet there it is again number one on this site.

I agree that a new poll is merited, with so many new users and such, but I plan on conducting a best of the decade poll in a couple months, which will be my focus for the time being. Should be very interesting.

Let's do this again this year. The site has expanded, there is a much greater selection of films that have been added to the library, and the AWC hopefully opened up many people to international cinema, and encouraged those who were already familiar to go further in-depth with their viewing. If you are up for it I'm sure it would be a huge success, and I would offer my assistance if needed. Last year I spent hours copying and pasting everyones top 10 into a three column word document, which I carried around with me throughout the day.
