Despite the obvious themes of isolation, obsession and downright evil which run through Polanski’s films, there is also a multitude of beautiful women, reading like a ‘Best Of’ of cinema’s most beautiful actresses. Here is a totally superficial list of my favourites! From least favourite to most favourite (though they’re all wonderful)

9. MIA FARROW

Positioned so low down because she (deliberately) looks so unhealthy throughout! And forget what John Cassavetes said, that haircut suited her ;)

8. SHARON TATE

Loved the red hair in Fearless Vampire Killers! Sadly no longer with us.

7. FRANCESCA ANNIS

Unfortunately spends most of MACBETH being downright crazy!

6. NASTASSJA KINSKI

Nastassja was fortunate to inherit the shape of her father’s features without their sharpness!

5. ISABELLE ADJANI

Strangely beautiful in POSSESSION too. Didn’t like her glasses in THE TENANT though!

4. EMMANUELLE SEIGNER

Polanski sure loved pretty young French girls.

3. FAYE DUNAWAY

Just don’t look at her now…

2. CATHERINE DENEUVE

The meaning of the word ‘doe-eyed’

1. FRANCOISE DORLEAC

Has the more confident edge over her sister. Françoise died very young but burned very brightly. Gorgeous!
