William Bayer wrote a wonderful book in the mid-70s with essays on what he considered the 60 “GREAT MOVIES” ….categorized as Films about Films; Period Films; Horror & Fantasy; War, etc) …it was one of the first books on film that I got. A friend gave it to me in the early ’80s. It has stunning stills from many many movies.
