The Greatest Films I've Ever Seen

By: Zachary Phillip Brailsford

This is just a short list of those ten films that I think can be constituted as the best ever (for me, obviously). Since I still have much to see, of course, I cannot say that this list will stay the same, but it’s a good depiction of what I think is great right now.

This has been edited to reflect what I currently think is amazing, since, over the last year, I have seen quite a few new films that I feel are deserving of this stature.

NOTE: It is odd, because I usually do not think it wise for someone to reduce himself to only putting one film per director on his list, because, well, if a director made TWO of the greatest films ever, why would he leave it off? That being said, that is essentially what I am doing right now, since I took off Boxing Gym to put in Belfast, Maine.

Crap, I've only seen the last two! Goodbye, Dragon Inn would make my top 10.

Only seen numbers two and four, but they're both masterpieces.

Nice list. I need to hurry up and watch Breaking the Waves. I have a love/hate relationship with Von Trier. I love Jeanne Dielman and Playtime as well. I need to check out some Tsai Ming-liang films A.S.A.P.

Thanks, Henry. Just what I like to hear. :P Arsaib, yeah, I mean, it is a VERY new film, true, but I cannot deny the impact it has had on me. It was certainly the best film I saw last year, and I think one of the best films (obviously) that I've seen in a while. Hope you can check it out, if you haven't seen it. :) Savvy
