Or are you judging only on historical accuracy?

Is Braveheart really not on here? I want to see these movies but Braveheart's not here to contrast them with.

There's a mix of quality here. Originally i started out with just the ones i would recommend, and i really don't like Braveheart at all- the style as much as historical content..

"Que Farei Eu com Esta Espada?", "Veredas" and "Silvestre", all from João César Monteiro, are medieval tales too. Could you add it?

terrific compilation!... may i suggest two more period pieces?... THE NAME OF THE ROSE ('86) - Jean-Jacques Arrnaud and the newer version of ROBIN HOOD ('10) - Ridley Scott; for a different slant on how Robin earned the legendary status (beautiful cinematography, too).

What a great list - shame it's so short! Kenji, what film is that top picture from? How about adding Huston's A Walk with love and death? or Breillat's delicious Bluebeard? Although the switching to modern times may disqualify it. It is such a pity that Borowczyk's Blanche isn't on here either...

Good suggestion, Ali, it's just that i don't like Pasolini's Decameron or Canterbury Tales, sorry to say as i know you're a PPP fan, then again i'm not so keen on Olivier's Richard III either, so may add them

What about The Decameron? It's more clearly the Middle Ages than Arabian Nights.

THE NAME OF THE ROSE should be on the list. Also both Welles' & Polanski's MACBETH.
