'There is no beauty here, only death' Favorite horror films.

This is my first list that is not just organizing someone else’s favorites. Horror films were my entry point into really being a ‘film person’ or whatever you want to call it. So here’s a list of standout titles.

Now there are plenty of great films here but there are also many less conventional titles, because horror is so visceral the genre lends itself to guilty pleasures, films that have interesting elements at work but dont quite come together. So not every film on this list is a great film in fact some of them are even bad movies with redeemable qualities but I think they’re all at least worth watching for fans of the genre (though some will disagree I’m sure). What I attempted to assemble is the good, the bad and the ugly of the genre from my perspective.

I’ve also included several films that aren’t horror films by strict definition but have elements that I find frightening.

This is of course a work in progress but in the mean time feel free to ridicule the choices you don’t like and complain about the omission of ones you do :)
