This Will Take You Exactly Seven Hours to Complete
By: Crtny Smth
Here are 62 of my favorite short films (that I’ve seen so far, anyway). They’re in no particular order, but of course I like some more than others. I compiled this list simply to organize my own short film experience and maybe create a starting point for someone who wants to watch some good shorts right away. Sorry if some of the videos no longer exist – I’ll try as hard as I can to keep up with them.
Wind Along the Coast by Ivan Maximov / Maksimov, 2003
Maximov created a computer game called Full Pipe – Here’s a walkthrough. His only other short film on MUBI is Bolero, but I would recommend also seeing From Left to Right.
Jumping by Osamu Tezuka, 1984
Tezuka has been considered the Japanese Walt Disney and credited as the “Godfather of Anime”. There is a museum just for him – The Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum, located in Takarazuka, Japan. It celebrates his achievements and creations (shows his short films and has exhibitions of his original artwork). If the entirety of his Manga creations were lumped together, the book would have well over 150,000 pages (although inaccessible to those who do not speak Japanese).
Conflict by Garri Bardin, 1983

Multiple Sidosis
Sid Laverents began making films at home when he was 50. Multiple Sidosis is one of the few amateur films to be to be included in the Nation Film Registry. “Worried that his health might prevent him from attending a party celebrating his 100th birthday, he prepared an apology video in advance, but was ultimately able to attend.” Sid Laverents wrote two books – an autobiography and a novel about a horrible 1929 flood in Elba, Alabama.
