I have several obvious objections to this list. Not to flame, but how the hell did they even think of placing Star Wars, Pulp Fiction, and Slumdog Bullshit above films the likes of M, Viridiana, Taxi Driver, Apocalypse Now, Raging Bull, Andrei Rublev, Children of Paradise and et cetera. A somewhat disappointing list, all though I am commenting nearly 8-9 months after the formation of the list.

I'm not too sure about this but I don't think the films are 'ranked' in any order, so having Pulp Fiction above Raging Bull does not mean they believe the former is better. They're all great, or 'essential', in their own ways. Not one more so than another.

OK it isn't perfect. But how about this schedule for Friday Oct 22 at the brand new Lightbox theater: 3:00PM * 8 ½ 6:30PM * The Battle of Algiers 6:45PM * The 400 Blows 9:30PM * Viridiana 11:59PM * In the Mood for Love............ I think I'd go for the full marathon on that day! Damn, I'd have to choose between 400 Blows and Battle of Algiers. If I had the time or means to watch all 100 of these on the big screen, as they are being screened in Toronto next month, I'd maybe skip about 5 of them.

Ugetsu, Sunrise, Andrei Rublev, Pather Panchali yes, Slumdog Millionaire and Life is Beautiful certainly not. Should be more from Africa, Latin America and parts of Asia
