I would recommend Tatsuya Mori's A and A2. They are probably the most unnerving documentaries I've ever seen with scarecly anything happening, but simply the fact that Mori was allowed to near-freely invade their institution is just bizarre. All the people involved just leave me ill. On another note, Talking Head would be the best Mamoru Oshii for you.

Thank you very much. I've actually been meaning to ask you about some Anime recs because I'm so pitifully uninformed in that regard. And Oshii is one of my favourites, despite my not really being able to decide where to go after "Angel's Egg" and "Ghost in the Shell."

I'd heard you mention "A" and "A2," but hadn't checked them out. But as soon as I did they looked immediately fascinating. I put all three on my netflix right after a Lino Brocka binge and right before a Yoshio Harada binge. Thanks again.

Great list can't wait to see the ones I haven't you always give me new stuff to watch. I am a little concerned about the lack of Western films in this list.

Just how many names have you got? It's hard keeping up with your various guises.
