Ally the Manic Listmaker

Well, I'd be open to looking at your ranked Woody Allen list.
Hi, thought you might enjoy this article i wrote about woody allen.... http://www.bucketmoon.com/comedy_woody.html :) All the best, Boaz zippor www.boazzippor.net www.bucketmoon.com
It´s been so good for mr. Allen to abandone New York and their newyorkers and find out about emotions in Paris and with people from the South. Though I love practically all of his movies I've just seen Midnight in Paris and Whatever works and...well...day by day he's better in making movies!
"Small time crooks" is way to high. I love every single Woody Allen film, don't misunderstand me, but I honestly think that particular film is one of his worst. On the other hand "manhattan" and "annie hall" are quite low. Nevertheless, I can't complain about "crimes and misdemeanors" being at the top. My personal favorite is "annie hall", but "crimes and misdemeanors" is his best.
Radio Days diserves a much better position, as well Interiors. They both fit in an eventual top5 of mine. What's the matter with Manhattan?
I love that you put "Love and Death" at #2 since it is one of the lesser-known Allens (and my personal favorite) but I am very surprised that "Manhattan," "Radio Days," and "Sleeper" are so low!
will think of doing one of these, although i've only seen around 24 directed by him. my favourite is definitely 'radio days', probably followed by 'shadows and fog'. i too love 'alice' (mia farrow is a VERY underrated actress). and the least favourite is definitely 'melinda and melinda'.
I agree for the most part, but personally Love and Death is the top of the list followed by Crimes.
@Allison: When I was reading "Conversations With Woody" I think he said that he intentionally edited Husbands and Wives that way to make it feel more aggressive, sharp, and documentary like. I think that decision was maybe influenced by his emotional state after the break-up of their marriage, but I don't think it was an accidental thing for practical reasons like he couldn't do any re-shoots. At least that's the impression I got from his talking about the film in the book. He revists the jump-cuts again for Deconstructing Harry as well, which may also indicate it was a choice and not a mistake.
top 3 for me, hands down, should be 1) Annie Hall 2) Manhattan 3) Sweet and Low Down. Could watch any of those 3 films any day or any night
Josh S I really hated the editing for Husbands and Wives, but that's bc Woody & Mia broke up after filming and he couldn't do any re-shoots and was stuck with what he had. It's not my fav.
Is there a 'cut-off' point on the list or are even the lowliest as beloved as the others? ;)
Now, now, I like them all. I like Hannah & Her Sisters quite a bit, but you see there are other ones! Make a Woody Allen list so I can critique yours. ;)
Hannah and Her Sisters and Radio Days are way too low. And Cassandra's Dream over Manhattan?! Wow. WOW. Fail.
